  1. Can you check if my manuscript is suitable for submission?
    The manuscript goes through a review process by Editors and Reviewers before a decision can be made. Therefore, it isn't possible to bypass this process and tell you beforehand whether your manuscript is suitable for submission.
  2. What is the current status of my submitted manuscript?
    Corresponding author can view the submission status by logging into the account of Editorial System to view the details in ”Your Manuscripts” and/or “Recently received notifications”.
  3. Is the journal indexed in the Scopus database?
    The Journal of Ecological Engineering has been indexed in Scopus since January 2013.

  4. When can I expect a first decision from the Editor?
    The preliminary evaluation process usually takes 1-2 weeks. The first decision for the manuscript in a poor quality will be reject – without sending to the reviewers. Moreover, manuscript can be returned to authors with suggestions for the correction. Otherewise, manuscript will be sent to two or more reviewers.
  5. What is the publication date of the final version of article?
    The journal publication date depends on the collaboration with the article's author(s): (1) obtaining satisfactory and complete responses to reviewer comments, (2) completing payment of the publication fee after acceptance of the final version of the article.
    Once the funds are deposited into our bank account, a payment confirmation is issued, and the article is then assigned to a specific issue in the next available space. You can check how many issues have already been published in the section "All Issues" on the journal's website. The publication date is always the first day of each month.
  6. How long does it take from submitting an article to its approval?
    After receiving the article, the editors select a responsible reviewers, and the evaluation process depends on their contribution. Reviewers typically return their comments within a four weeks.
    Articles with comments are then sent to the authors for revision, which should be completed within a week. Therefore, the timeframe for article evaluation until approval is at least five weeks. However, depending on the specific nature of the revisions, this timeframe is often extended by two or three weeks.
  7. How long does the peer-review process usually take?
    The review process typically takes five to eight weeks.
  8. How long does it take to deliver a draft version (proof) of article after payment?
    After payment, the article is sent to the production department, where a proof of article is prepared. Production takes usually two-three weeks, but in exceptional cases a fast-track is possible. The proofs are sent by email in PDF format to the corresponding authors only, then you can open a file for review and correction.
  9. How and when can I pay publishing fee?
    Payments are made before the article is published, just after your article is accepted by the Editors and goes to “Articles in press”. The article fee is executed by online payment – allows to make a quick money transfer by credit/debit card, or by bank transfer – uses for payment from your bank. The invoice can send upon request.
  10. What is waiver policy for fees?
    There is no waive/reduce payment policy in our journal, regardless of seniority or nationality.
  11. Can I pay via PayPal?
    Transfer payments via PayPal, Western Union, or MoneyGram are not possible.

  12. Will you issue a confirmation or invoice certifying payment of the publication fee?
    All paid manuscripts are confirmed be email immediately upon receipt of payment in our account. In addition, invoices can be issued upon request.
  13. Has the article metadata been transmitted to Scopus?
    After publication, Crossref first registers the DOI number and distributes metadata online. A signed partnership agreement with Scopus allows them to independently download data directly from the distributor.
  14. What is the expected time for an article to be indexed in the Scopus database?
    The Editorial Office or the Publisher has no influence on the timing or order of indexation published articles – they appear in the database after a few days or weeks.
    In case of delays, the only way to resolve this problem is to visit the Scopus support center.
  15. What should be included in a cover letter?
    Cover letter should include the manuscript title and type, a brief overview of the research's aims, methods, and key findings, and an explanation of why the work is a good fit for the journal's scope. It could also state that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere.
  16. Can I submit a proposal for a Special Issue?
    In our journal there are not special issues published.
